Is there a college / school that offers the book portion of the AME courses by correspondance before the wrenching begins in a apprenticeship? Thanks, MDY

Make sure you have a good line on a job before you invest time and money into this course. I have found that employers really dont want to hire the ICS guys as they dont have any experience or spoon fed training. Most of the guys that I know that have been successful with this course had jobs with and AMO prior to doing the course. ie; stores, grooming, janitor type duites.

You also will not receive the same amount of credit towards your apprenticeship as you would by completing Basic training from an ATO. ICS gives you only 1000 hrs credit towards your apprenticeship as opposed to the 1800 from an ATO. Also all examinations will be given by Transport Canada as opposed to being able to write 4 of the tests in school. ICS works best for someone who is already working in the industry.
