best bush operator 2011

Post by oldncold »

ok every one is in the middle of high flyin season the bugs are back , and things should be gettin into the rhythm .

So here are the rules

must have min 2 airplanes on floats
have 1 dhc product turbine ok
no ifr twin s

pay above 3500mth + accomodations ie first job or 185 first season
schedule must get 1 week off every 90 days.

this should reduce the bottomfeeders and pee poor mgt .
maintenance should not be an afterthought

this should give those who aspire next year to better a list of quality companies to apply and the great bush ops companies a flood of good applicaints.

state province/terrritory / # hrs a month and extras ie civilation with in 3hrs extra road accessable .

Great idea. Except I would suggest you ammend the criteria a little. There are a few good bush operators who either don't have two float planes or don't have a DHC product.

Heeere we goo! Now you've done it Old n Cold. You started it off with a simple question, based on your ideas of what you wanted to see. Unfortunately your opinion doesn't count here. I'm sure that by the time all the qualifiers chirp in, it will be a 3 page post and you will require legal intervention and consultation.

My 2 cents worth. Atikokan Aero. Great Owner, accomodations, flying. Maintenance is not an issue. Time off when needed. 2 beavers and 1 C-180. You fly almost every morning, but should be done by mid day after the start up. Expect 300 hr or so for the season. Atikokan is 10 min away, T Bay is 2 hr. Pay is good for all staff. Best operator I've flown for. If I wasn't so content making lots more money overseas with shorter rotations, I'd be back in a heart beat.

I agree, never worked there, but meet Phil Robinson quite a few years back. Not sure where he's at, those bachelors are always on the go. DHC
