Air Canada Ranked Best International Airline in North America in Global Industry Survey
Skytrax Passengers Choice award based on responses of 18.8 million travellers
MONTREAL, June 22, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada has been ranked 'Best International Airline in North America' in a worldwide survey of 18.8 million air travelers as announced at the Skytrax World Airline Awards at the Paris Air Show. The Passengers Choice survey was conducted by the independent research firm Skytrax between July 2010 and May 2011 using over 38 different aspects of passenger satisfaction to rank airlines' product and service standards. This annual survey is regarded in the air transportation industry as a primary benchmarking tool for passenger satisfaction levels of airlines throughout the world.
"We are honored that the Skytrax World Airline Awards has recognized Air Canada as the Best International Airline in North America and that for the second year in a row it has placed Air Canada as among the very best airlines in the world," said Ben Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. "This award is especially welcome as it confirms the success of our corporate priority to establish Air Canada as an international powerhouse and that passengers are embracing our world class services and products. It is also a tribute to our employees, whose dedication and professionalism are recognized by this prestigious award."
"Air Canada continues to be the popular choice for North American passengers having won the overall Best Airline North America award in 2010. This repeat win clearly demonstrates that passengers continue to be impressed with the overall quality of product and service provided by Air Canada on International flights," said Edward Plaisted, Chairman of Skytrax.
Skytrax World Airline Awards is the established, global barometer of passenger opinions about more than 200 airlines around the world. Free of outside or financial influences, it comprised more than 100 different respondent nationalities in the 2010-2011 survey. Nice work ladies & Gents!
I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...
Re: Best International Airline in North America
Yes, no kidding.
You guys are WAY better than any other choice in North America, especially buisness class long haul. Those fully reclining pods are very very nice. I fly a ton with A/C and am now SuperElite 2nd year running.
My only complaints .... you need to change the movies/t.v. shows more frequently .. I've seen them all and how about some variety in the food in the lounges. Its always the same chick pea salad ..
Otherwise excellent job!

I was looking over at that site and it seems like the best in the world are mostly in Asia and that region. I like Air Canada and enjoy flying with them but I don't think they have much competition in North America. I wish there were more great airlines in North America.
Quincy - How many use Canada Pages for looking up airlines?

Re: Best International Airline in North America
I guess you don't have anything better to do with your summer either!!

LisaS,
Give it a rest.
This was a proper thread before you chimed in.
Good on AC for the accomplishment. You don't have to like it but AC has a product that in some ways we will likely never compare. Stop pissing on other people - you are making us look bad.
Get a life - can't wait to fly with you.

For those who participated in the Special Olympics (Whether they medalled or not) is, more than likely, the best accomplishment in their lives. They, not doubt, rank it much higher than flying.

North American standards are below intl standards. That said, AC long haul business class is excellent.
