Ear protection
Hey all
Any advice on what to use for infant ear protection when flying a Cessna 180 or 185? ear plugs? head phones?
Thanks

Re: Ear protection
I don't know of any particular brands but a quick google search revealed that moldable silicone or wax plugs should be used instead of regular ear plugs (these ones do not actually go into the ear canal rather cover the hole) head phones are sometimes a better choice as the ear plugs are a choking hazard and they are difficult to insert properly. They need to have an airtight seal to work

Re: Ear protection
I always just used ear defenders for my young ones. This is my daughter on her first flight at two months.

They don't always stay on either because of fit or being pulled off. Can't speak for their effectiveness, but now that my daughter is five she has unhuman ability to hear 'ice cream' from the other side of the house with the TV blaring...
Just remember that hearing damage is often cumulative and a few flights shouldn't be a big deal...

The child size muffs are the way to go. My little guy actually likes them too! Peltor Kid, You can find them on EBay for $20.
