Tricks to get cheap overseas tickets
Hello all,
I'm looking to book overseas tickets for my wife and infant son in the very near future...
I don't want to use the yearly ticket allowance that my company provides so am doing the booking on my own...
Does anyone know of any websites or tricks to getting long-haul flight tickets at a reasonable cost?
I've been looking at Expedia and the carriers websites and the prices seem to be very expensive for what should be an "easy routing"
Care to share any "nuggets" of wisdom you may have?
Regards,
TPC

Two words...Wheel wells... but bundle up!

I use travelocity. I also recommend that you try many times a day. The prices vary considerably and you will get to see the average, then when you see something below you can snap it up.

If you can start your segment out of the states such as SFO or EWR depending on where you are going it will be considerably cheaper. I booked a flight overseas out of EWR for $800 cheaper than out of YYZ. Orbitz.com was the best for me.

Use www.kayak.com it searches all the travel providers.

l've used this site a few times for trips to Asia, the Middle East and Europe. http://www.flightnetwork.com/ and like a previous poster said, search the same trip often the prices can change drastically even from minute to minute. Good luck and safe travels.

This might sound silly but buy your tickets on a Wednesday. Doesn't mater which Airline, but in my experience that day for some reason has saved me probably thousands.

Do you mean book Wednesday departures or pay for on Wednesday?Gumby wrote:This might sound silly but buy your tickets on a Wednesday. Doesn't mater which Airline, but in my experience that day for some reason has saved me probably thousands.

It would help to know where you are going. If travelling from Canada to the UK, for example, canadianaffair.com generally gives you the cheapest flights.TeePeeCreeper wrote:Hello all,

Isn't cheap airfare one of the root causes for grossly underpaid flight crews and maintenance staff?

Geez, I read that title and I thought that some company had come out with a frequent flyer program for sex tourists.
