Tumbler Ridge IFR Approach?
Enroute chart LO1 shows Tumbler Ridge CBX7 as having an instrument approach available yet there are none in the CAP. Anybody know why? I'm interested because I have relatives there.

Re: Tumbler Ridge IFR Approach?
1)It could be a restricted cap approach (r.ca.p.) and that is only avialble to commercial operators that have an ops spec #99 on their operating certificate.
2) the approach could have been cancelled and the enroute still show the route. what is your date on the enroute chart ? the changes are usually listed on the chart. opr on nav canada's web site under the changes to service
Other than that ? fly safe

I was going to say it must be an RCAP, but I just looked and there is no RCAP. If there is no cap then you are out of luck.
Re: Tumbler Ridge IFR Approach?
Perhaps the approach has been decommissioned quite recently; or perhaps it's in the RCAP.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.

Re: Tumbler Ridge IFR Approach?
If you check in your CFS they very top section will tell you what publications an airport can be found in so typically LO1, HI1, CAP2 would be an entry fro an IFR airport so if you are wondering about where to find an approach if any for an airport check there.
As for Tumbler ridge it is in the RCAP. The following applies
As for Tumbler ridge it is in the RCAP. The following applies
A minimum climb gradient of 280 ft/NM to 6900' must be maintained during the missed approach procedure.
The following conditions apply to this procedure:
Which if you look at the approach makes sense as there is considerable rising terrain in the the direction of the missed.
- The aircraft weight shall not be greater than that necessary to meet published climb gradient on the missed approach
When computing aircraft weight, corrections shall be made for the pressure altitude, ambient temperature, wind components and any gradient loss associated with a turn planned at the missed approach.
Crew members must be familiar with the runway environment.

Thanks all, found it in the RCAP. Too bad I'll not be able to fly it.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, IMO.
Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from the little things; knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings.
