I've been getting many many many texts asking what happened.....alas today I was working, so, without being ignorant, what happened today?

Heard a rumor about a float plane around Sioux Lookout last night. Just a rumor from a good source but no details.

Heard on the radio this morning that a Minnesota man was flying a small aircraft with his dog and crash landed on a lake near Sioux. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Were any fish hurt when the plane went into the lake? If so, did anyone take them to the Fish Hospital? How are they doing? What room numbers are the injured fish in, so we can send flowers?

This part of the forums is the last place I'd expect it, but it turns out that the accidents forum is the place where people show the most amount for disrespect for one another, all on the heels of the most difficult time of people's lives, or worse, their death.

Not to sidetrack the thread but dogs are dogs and humans are humans. Some of us see them as equals and some do not...this is human nature. However, no amount of negative posting on an aviation forum will ever change this so lets just agree to disagree and carry on shall we?

Firstly, the dog was probably loved because it was included in the aircraft adventure in the first place. It just went through a horrible trauma, likely doesn't speak much English and may or may not know its human isn't coming home ever again. If some of the responses in this thread are indicative of the humans that may be around this dog, then if there was any way I could get some information to my contacts with the various rescue associations I'd help in any way I could to ensure the dog didn't up in a bad situation due to lack of caring.

Secondly, at least one other human being likely loved the deceased, and getting a loved pet to someone back home might ease the grief for that person.

There don't seem to be many details forthcoming in the news - if anyone knows anything further and fears being ridiculed on these forums, then I'd really appreciate a pm at least.

If it was my dog on board I would hope somebody would do the same for me.

Come on guys. Unfortunately the gentleman flying the aircraft passed away. Its not like Kirsten could pick whether the pilot or dog lived. The dog should be looked after, and if that dog was his, I'm sure its something the pilot would have wanted.

Two fish were reported injured, seen flailing rapidly out of the water. They have since passed away. A foundation has been created in their honour, to donate please call
1-800-u-fail-troll. Have chequebook or credit-card available. Please note donations are not tax deductible.

I thought "doc" woulda been all over this by now! gear gear gear. It is a sad deal but, i too would like to see this dog brought back to its family. reminds me of another crash in winter in the mountains some place, the pilot died and the dog made it, spent three nights alone in the bush before rescuers found the poor thing. Its quite obvious you na sayers are not animal people, i'm sure the guy driving the plane would respect somone caring for his poor "friend".
