Too late? I hope not!
Here's the story.
Started Flight school 2 years ago. I had to stop due to personal issues.
Now. I am 26 turning 27 in the new year. I would like to finish and make this a career.
I got no kids, living at home so I can pay back student loan for diploma in marketing I obtained (That will be paid off in 4 years).
I am in process of getting truck license to earn more cash. With job I have now I can manage to start flying again.
Planning on getting a second job to just put more cash in my pocket and flying. Overall I will have the money to fly consistantly.
I want to have my CPL by age 29-30, sooner with added income!
I know some of you will tell me hang up my headset and move on, but I can't be the only to have been in the situation. I have heard of people getting license in mid 30s and having great careers with big companies after all the hard work and putting up with the BS of the industry.

Re: Too late? I hope not!
Go for it. You'll find maturity and life experience will probably help you along the way.
Re: Too late? I hope not!
go for it, there's plenty older chaps I know who started or got their career going later, age isn't much of a factor these days as it can be used as discrimination. Follow your heart, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Re: Too late? I hope not!
I don't think you'll find many that will tell you shouldn't based on your age.
Smartest thing you can do it hit the road looking for your first job with little to no debt.

I've trained, met and worked with guys who have started much later than you. You're plenty young enough still!

Re: Too late? I hope not!
I got my cpl about 4 months before my 31st birthday and started my first dockhand job a few days after earning the cpl. I spent parts of 2 seasons on the dock and then got my first entry level seat at 32. I am a week shy of 34 and still have low hours (just under 800) but for a year now, I have had a full time year round seat in a dhc-2 amphib and a part time seat in a C421. Time is building and opportunities are opening up. So is it possible at that age yes definitly, do what you need to do to make it happen and go for it!
Re: Too late? I hope not!
I'm 28 and in the middle of doing my PPL. I hope to have my commercial in the next 2-3 years and to have switched careers completely by age 33. I asked the same question here on avcanada about a year ago and the consensus was that age is mostly a non-issue, and in fact can even be an advantage. You're likely to be more trustworthy than a hot-shot 18 yr old, and you're more likely to take this seriously.
All the best, sounds like you have a plan, now go for it.

Re: Too late? I hope not!
It depends on what you want to do.
If you want to make Captain at Air Canada, you are getting a bit late. By the time you get enough hours to get hired, you might be too low in seniority to upgrade to a desirable Captain spot. It depends also on a lot of other things, like attrition and retirement of pilots, the economy, fuel prices, the alignment of the stars and planets, and just plain luck.
But there is a whole world of aviation outside of the airlines. I got my PPL at 22, my CPL at 25, and now at 32 I have a stable job and about 1500TT. I'm not in a hurry to build more hours or move on, I am just enjoying the ride and building up contacts and networking to eventually jump to the next place should the time or need arise.

Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

Re: Too late? I hope not!
I know of people who have started flying after retiring from their real job.
Flying a twin only doubles your chance of having an engine failure
