Shouldn't they be playable in Apple QuickTime?

You don't need an Apple to download QT. They made a PC version. Just tell them to go to Apple's site and download it using their PC.

So, no?

I noticed today the other videos taken on the Same trip play in windows media player even though I did not intentionally alter them.

If you can play the videos using Windows Media Player then leave it at that. Once you go into video conversion, it's another can of worms. Assuming you got a regular PC from BestBuy or Dell, it will take a very long time to convert between formats. Like I said before, QuickTime is an Apple product so I would be surprised if the videos from your iPod/iPad won't play.

I'm not sure if it's a conversion issue or a playback issue. If it's playback try vlc, it opens everything.

Another option is WMP-HC.

If you end up still needing an actual conversion, both Handbrake and SUPER are free programs that should do the trick.

I remember seeing a way to hook it up so you can use your iPod through your stereo... song titles and such display on the regular stereo display... let me see if I can find it again.
