Job advice for 1000hr+ flight instructor
Hey guys,
I've been trying to look for an FO job for about a year now but haven't had any luck. I've got 1200hrs from instructing, unfortunately not much in terms of multi hours. I've been on road trips, and haven't had any good leads. The few meetings I did have, I was told that basically they didn't consider instructing time to be valuable -- Which I fully understand.
So now my question is, given that I'm having trouble breaking out of instructing, would it be worthwhile for me to consider ramp jobs? Others have told me that for me its not worth it given that I already have enough hours for a right seat job somewhere; since I haven't found those jobs though, I'm willing to get in line somewhere else working the ramp while I wait. I've worked the ramp before elsewhere, so I definitely have experience there.
Thanks for any advice you guys are able to offer,

I have a few friends with that amount of time who were recently hired onto turbines. Just keep knocking on the doors and making phone calls, something will happen sooner or later.

As for a ramp job I also hate to say that nobody will put you on the ramp with 1400hrs total time. The only advice I can offer is if you want to fly ifr, buy a ticket and sit in the back. I think you missed the boat. Apply for a job at allied wings in southport mb.

Perseverance and connections are what you need to get by in this business. Shake some hands and keep at it.

Don't be discouraged... plenty of instructors with that sort of time get hired. You might have to work the ramp or dispatch, to start; I know three instructors with similar time as you that were hired recently on the ramp and made it into an aircraft in about 3 months. While most companies do not value your instructor time as great "experience" they do value those hours in the logbook when it comes time for an upgrade. Where have some of the other instructors at your school gone to work? Have you branched out and asked them to bring a resume to the CP with a good recommendation for you?
Keep trying, you have not missed the boat.

Definitely don't get discouraged, stay persistent...something will come up. I just left instructing at around 1700.
Just my opinion, but at your time I don't think you would be happy to sit on the ramp waiting for a spot to open up. I imagine with the time you spent instructing you must have met several contacts, see if they can help you out. It's hard, but don't be afraid to ask for help.
Best of luck

A mile of road will take you a mile, but a mile of runway can take you anywhere
