A few weeks ago Prairie Chicken started a thread about avcanada becoming less interesting.
Got me to thinking about how many of the regulars from a few years ago are no longer here, which got me to wondering what forum people read for information and entertainment?
Excluding the water cooler of course.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.
The Water Cooler may well be gone. I'd like to keep the place at least primarily aviation oriented. We do tend to wander off on tangents. I didn't know there was a "rapture" forum. That one must be an absolute HOOT!
Airplane.
The watercooler is probably a bad habit as much as anything. For some reason I feel like posting about non airplane stuff here. Partially I like to find out what pilots think about things.
I don't think AvCanada is less interesting. I think it has far less bullshit than it used to. Fewer personal attacks and petty bickering is not less interesting.
I used to be very active in this forum many years ago then took a long holiday before coming back here just over a year ago... starting to remember why I left. The sheer repetitiveness of the topics, complaints and debates. The same questions come up again and again with the same answers, the same complaints come up, and often the same usual suspects come in and hijack a thread and steer it towards their own personal issues. I suppose it's fine for the people who are newer on here, but for those of us who have been on this forum for the past 10 years it becomes tedious.
The only thing that keeps me going here is there are occasionally bits of news and a few new angles to issues, plus some of the issues that affect me now are different than the ones years ago. I try to contribute positively when I can.
which got me to wondering what forum people read for information and entertainment?
So far no one has answered my question as to which forum they find the most informative....like for instance " General " " Flight training " Accidents, incidents " etc.

When I first started reading and posting on AVCANADA the forum that interested me most was flight training because that was the area of flying that I earned my living in.
However over the last few years I have gradually moved away from that forum because I found that the industry has changed to the point I no longer understand how the industry operates with all the new methods in flight training I find I have less and less in common with the flight training industry.
Of course over time it is to be expected that the industry will change, unfortunately keeping up requires time, effort and money to be on side with the rest of the industry.
So now I just browse round and like most here just read whatever seems to be interesting and at the moment the strife in Air Canada wins hands down for being interesting.

Mostly just read General and Accidents. I suggested some time ago when there was a request for input that an Aircraft Owner forum would generate a lot of traffic. The Homebuilder forum is a little to specific whereas an the Aircraft Owner title would be inviting to all owners regardless of type.
Have to admit, I'm hardly on here anymore, myself - for various reasons.

Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from the little things; knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings.

Don't mean to get off topic but would you mind elaborating? What kind of changes and so on.

For the most part I stick to the general section but if bored will just check out all parts of the site looking for interesting topics.
1-Water Closet
2- Maintenance
3- General
4- Flight Training
5- Bush Flying
And it's always disappointing when some cool chicks like Flybabe disappear, I miss getting sexually harassed the most. But that's my cross to bear I suppose. Why did God have to damn me with good enough looks to permeate the internet??!!!?!?!?!
DAMN YOU YAHWEH!!!!!!!!!

i am new here, its a great forum, i think i can learn a lot in this forum.Hope it will b a great pleasure to be a member of this site. This is really a good thing that a specific thread has been already here for the new comers to introduce. Will meet all of you in discussions. I'm positively looking forward to the forum and its members hope all will guide, share and help me to increase my knowledge.
but you had intelligent things to say before right?
I never had anything intelligent to say, I'm just good for smart assed comments way off topic, in poor taste, and poor humour.
IMHO for a discussion to be interesting we need extreme viewpoints from wide angles of the spectrum. When everyone is being moderate (or moderated for that matter) it just feels like we're all holding hands chanting coom-by-ahh! Capt sweet and juicy was great for that. Every time a thread is starting to get interesting it gets locked, moved, or deleted.
