L-188A C-GNPB heading to AirSpray

Post by zorro7 »

L-188 Folks:

Hi Friends:

I'm new to your fine aviation forum & seek the assistance of aviation spotters in the Calgary, Red Deer area with the coming arrival of our X L-188 FAH 555. Now C-GNPB.

It is still at Casper, Wyoming on its last leg of its long ferry flight from Tegucigalpa, Honduras last Dec 2011 as of 14:30 CST today. Will post new info/data as it emerges.

For now, how it looked Dec-22-2011 at the tarmac at Casper, WY. Photo Pervez 183A. Tks

Tks for the time & attention

Seems like you have the tracking under control. What exactly are you asking for?

M/W:

Good day!!

We look to capture L-188 C-GNPB when it lands at Calgary sometime this week-end or next week. We seek assistance of aviation spotters & aviation enthusiast at Red Deer area to capture it with their lenses/videos (weather permitting) with as many shots/angles as possible of this classic bird. A walk around will be welcome.

Plz PM for more logistic details.

Tks in advance

L-188 Folks:

Our L-188 GNPB is heading to Lethbridge, (CYQL) vs Calgary as previously expected. They may press on to Red Deer fm here depending on L-188 maintenace & weather permitting in the area. We hope at least one aviation spotter captures our L-188 in that area. Tks to all other spotters at Calgary for their help also.

More to come

It's chilly out, especially compared to the last several weeks. Put on your warm fuzzies if it comes through Calgary.

Sorry if this sounds cranky (not my intent), but: if you guys can afford to buy/lease the airplane, undertake maintenance/mods, and incur the cost of relocating it, can you not afford to hire a professional photographer rather than throwing yourself on the mercy of AvCanada members who like photographing airplanes? Sheesh.............

Interesting comment YYZSaabGuy but if you'd taken the time to contact Zorro7 you'd be aware that he's not affiliated with Air Spray in any way and is simply interested in getting some photographs for some websites he works on as part of his hobby.

And yes, it did make you sound cranky, even if that wasn't your intent.

I guess it was the repeated references to "our" L188A" and the comment that "We seek assistance of aviation spotters & aviation enthusiast" that made Zorro7 sound like an owner's rep. Mea culpa.

Just out of curiosity, did anybody in YQL get some good pics? It seems like NPB landed an hour ago, at 2:44 local. Also, where are these pictures going to be posted?

Not sure if you guys took this picture, but I really like it. It's a picture of NPB landing in Tegucigalpa: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled ... 788fe72cc0

Colonel Sanders,

Many members of the enthusiast community are actually active members in the aviation industry. You'd be surprised to know how many pilots, operations managers, dispatchers, flight attendants, sales executives, etc. within the aviation industry are also interested in aviation spotting and photography. This is an area that simply hasn't taken off in North America as much as it has in Europe and the general public isn't as aware of it. There are also several airports in North America and around the world where these enthusiasts are playing a vital role in aviation security on a volunteer basis.

Frankly your comment above is insulting, and it thoroughly disgusts and disappoints me sometimes the way people are on this aviation website.

^ Boy, would've liked to have read what C.S. wrote.... Zing! In any event, NPB flew from YQL to YQF yesterday before noon. I was contemplating offering the pilot a practice approach in YYC since there was SFA going on around Calgary at the time. Glad I didn't offer knowing now that this was simply a ferry flight...

I'm based in Red Deer, and in fact Airspray is going to do the import on an Aerostar that I just purchase in the U.S. I'll try to get down to the airport and get some pictures for you next week.

Jackg737:

Good day!

That's indeed a 737-300 video showing how not to land at Toncontin, Airport. Honduras. A pilot unfamiliar with the approach to rwy 02 gained too much speed on final and landed on a 2000 ft rwy instead. Fortunately, that 737 had good brakes. Noticed that the crew took a small break on the taxiway after the landing! anyhow,...it was a good landing after all!!

p.s A few years back an L-188 of SAHSA Airlines during a night landing fm Managua, Nicaragua almost went off the runway also. It blew two main gear tires & wore out 2 more during emergency braking operations.
