Is it time to move to Air Canada?
Hello fellow aviators. Here is the question that i am sure many of you have pondered. If given the chance upon a successful interview at Air Canada would you make the move to them? I know this answer is different for each of us out there. I guess what i am looking for is some experience and guidance from people that have done this move or may want to make this move.
It is a very interesting time in Canadian aviation with all the majors (705's) hiring and the wave seems to be ramping up in all areas. So where do you think the AC path will lead in 3yrs/ 5yrs etc, for someone new? Then of course we can talk about the low cost side of things?
Would it be better to be patient and see what WJ does with it's hiring, and now the announcement of a regional side as well?
It is very confusing to know what direction to take when you read some of the airline forums; as it is mostly filled with the typical disgruntled pilot out there trying to make a living and posting thoughts that really have no positive effect.
Now i have been in the game for 12years so i know what it's like trying to etch out a living when the target keeps moving. So i hope with this that i can get some genuine insights into things from the people out there that are and were like me. Don't forget that we are all pilots and share the same dream, so lets treat each other with that respect regardless of what jacket we are wearing. I look forward to your comments.

You sure about that?manyratings wrote:. Don't forget that we are all pilots and share the same dream
AC was never my dream, but then again Cheryl Ladd visits my dreams.
My opinion, which counts for less than squat, is that AC is headed for the crapper and that you don't want to be without a seat when the music stops.
I would be looking for advice face to face rather than the tool of the devil that is the internet for career navigation.

Did "Catch Me If You Can" just come out in 3D or something?
I assure you, the novelty wears off after your 2nd flight. I am kind of out of the loop now, whose striking this month?

If you want to be hated by 90% of the population of Canada any time is a good time to move to Air Canada

...and if you want to go to WJ going to AC is probably a great foot in the door. So if you want to drive a bus, whichever company offers you a jet type rating first is the best one to go to. Get pick-and-choozie later. You can always go back to the 703/4 world if you aren't happy there, you may never get the chance to wear gold bars and that cute little hat again.
