I have been watching the growing controversy regarding this company and todays article in the Star made interesting read {http://www.thestar.com/news/article/112 ... nt?bn=1ing }.The reporter did not make the obvious question, why were these machines bought in the first place???
Were the original Sikorskys old, tired, fuel inefficient, all of the above, or did Dr. Mazza decide they needed replacing just so he could get a cheque for $6.7mil.??

ORNGE got a lot more then just a 6.7 million kick back from the helicopter company, which I'm sure the auditors will figure out quickly. Every deal ORNGE did was dirty. Look at the hangar they rented in YHM, ask yourself who own's it and how they're related to ORNGE. ORNGE still hasn't used the hangar.

Another question, how is ORNGE doing medevac flights in single engine aircraft? I specifically remember having to have 2000 hrs total time and 500 mpic to fly for the MOH. Who changed it and why? Any kickbacks in that deal?

Good news though, when the Government has a yard sale for these aircraft, at least they won't have many hours on them.

They still have 76's, which were canadian's machines, maybe still are. ornge said that they need to replace the old obsolete 76's, yes they are A models but the newest 76 is the D, they could have just upgraded to C models, but that would be too cheap. They bought 12 139's with the taxpayer money and only brought 10 online, the other 2 would have been sold quietly by ornge and the profits would have gone to the "for-profit" wing, good way to launder taxpayer money. The PC-12's came from Kelner, whom I will speculate has received some nice shiney things for their part. So in summation, canadian, kelner and ornge have profited from taxpayer money which they were supposed to provide inproved service for but we just get poorer service and more scandal. What a mess.

The PC 12 supplier has said publicly they gave/ supported/donated a sum to one of the ORNGES.
I hesitate to put a figure to it because I could have remembered it wrong but it was around 1.5 million

Should have bought Airbuses! They'd have included villas in France.
I used to do medevacs in Navajos. Then they (MOH) required pressurized cabins, so you had to use turbines. The ALWAYS required TWO engines. Enter the PC12. A small step for MOH. A major leap backwards in policy? I know nothing about helicopters, but the PC12's (if they have to use them) should be operated by the private sector on contract?

re pc 12 kelner // manza burned kelner on the sale and went direct to factory with an ultimatium ( this is second hand info ) but kelner did do the outfiting of the interiors from 'green' state

before the 12 in nwo a fuel stop was almost manditory southbound for the kingair 200 with an als team from most points more than 200nm from yxl and manditory with an incubator on boad. this was in yrl or ytl with the crews having to pump the fuel themselves and the patient waiting in an cooling aircraft for upto 45 min . not a good situation no matter who is calling the shots. the 12 has a 1500nm with nbaa ifr reserves and the 45 series is lighter than the next gen's 6083 oew with med vac soa 2lifeports and als 320 lbs of bags 2 paramedics 2 flt crew so 7203 lbs
2700 lbs of jet fuel =9903 through in some 60 lbs of stuff for a max load.

ERGO AT 50O LBS THE FIRST HOUR AND UP HIGH 350 OR LESS EVERY HOUR AFTER THAT . YOU CAN GO A LONG WAYS AND ALTERNATES ARE NEVER A PROBLEM .

IN OVER 5000PIC HRS OF OPERATION 1 GEAR RELAY FAILED 1 MED BED INVERTER FAILED A LOW PRESSURE HYDRAULIC SWITCH
AND THE BELT ON THE 2 GEN ( ALT) SHREDDED . ENGINE NO HICUPS.

Speculate all you want, but you are dead wrong. It's amazing how knowledgeable people are on this topic and yet had nothing to do with the actual events. Not everyone involved were selfish f--ks like Mazza.

Another article today about canadian keeping their contracts and getting the other bases back, said they made 34 mil last year from the ornge ops. Who does the maintenance on the PC-12's?

The 76s were bought by ornge from CHL a few years back along with all the hangers.

So in summation, canadian, kelner and ornge have profited from taxpayer money

Are Canadian and Kelner not suppose to make a profit for providing a service?
