Mid air
Yikes:
RIO VISTA, Calif. - A small plane and a helicopter have clipped each other over Northern California, leaving two pilots with minor injuries, authorities said.
The six-seat Beechcraft Bonanza crashed Sunday just short of an airport, while the two-seat Robinson R22 helicopter landed in a field just off state Highway 160.
The accident happened about 7 p.m. about 8 miles (13 kilometres) south of the small Rio Vista Municipal Airport, halfway between Oakland and Sacramento along the Sacramento River, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.
The two pilots were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said.
It was not clear if anyone else was aboard either aircraft.
The plane went down near the airport it was trying to reach in Byron, some 20 miles (32 kilometres) to the south.
Both aircraft had private owners, according to FAA records.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
There was no immediate word on what may have caused the crash.

Re: Mid air
That would be nice to have as a title something like:
"Midair in California between a R22 and a Bonanza. Feb 20, 2012"
Instead of just "Midair"

Re: Mid air
That's what I love about this site. Always a critic... no matter the topic.
Re: Mid air
Well then again it could be the "Mid Air" of all midairs, seeing both craft are totalled before their forced landing in darkness and both pilots survive.TG wrote:That would be nice to have as a title something like:

Re: Mid air
northern33, nothing personal.
Just a minimum of a description would be nice and prevent missing heartbeats.
When I first read "Midair" I thought oh sh!t something serious happen in Canada. Mother of all mid air, crash, death, etc...
I know, dumb! but that was my initial reaction. Especially when avcanada takes forever to open because of a slow connection or because of the site itself.
Same thing with putting the date on the subject when the topic is related to an accident/incident.
Every once in a while an accident topic resurface months or years later with someone updating it with its final report.
Which is nice. But not until opening the topic realizing it's about an old accident (no date on the subject)
Note, I didn't criticized you for initially putting this topic in the wrong forum

Re: Mid air
No worries, I should have put more explanation myself right away.
In meanwhile those two pilots where very lucky in their unlucky day.
Especially the R22. Not the type of aircraft that would take much of a collision to be brought down out of control

Re: Mid air
Both pilots have golden horseshoes up their arses, how easily it could have been both lost.
