Interesting how that happens. Wonder if they still have a restraining order from TC. Would be easy to make the books look right if you are given ample warning they will show up. The same stuff goes on there than what has always gone on.

Re: Keystone
I think (we) posters may have crossed a few lines with the name calling etc. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...chances are its a duck. Keystone deserves threads that point out their MANY flaws as an air service. I just think the mods would prefer we dont call them things like pond scum and scum sucking... etc. Hopefully we can spread the word about Keystone without breaking forums rules. So ill just say... please, stay away!!

Re: Keystone
One question. Maybe several. Why do these folks still have an OC? They still find passengers who have been living in basements to fly with them. How can this be? Where is Transport Canada in this equation? Do they have no duty to protect, or at least inform the public of this company's past? Would you fly with them? As a passenger? Would you let your family fly with them? Am I too harsh? Somebody needs to be. They scare the crap out of me. Worst operator I've seen. Ever. I've been doing this since the mid '70's.

Re: Keystone
Boy if you look at their website, they look impressive. 1st airline to incorporate SMS. My experience is that the first companies to incorporate SMS have to do it for reasons. I know they have been bashed. Are there any links to their behavior. Just curious.

Re: Keystone
So, what exactly makes them so bad? (For someone who has never heard of them.)
And is it possible that, since they've had a few accidents, TC is looking closer and they've had to reform and start to clean up.

Masters Off,
Here is just 1 thread that went 20pages in the aftermath of their latest fatal accident. I would suggest you start with this one. Then do a search in the forums. It is shocking that they are allowed to continue operations in Canada.

Re: Keystone
I remember a few years back I was a passenger up to Thompson with a stopover in Cross Lake to drop off another pax. It was just the pilot and myself, I had not flown in a year, yet he let me do the takeoff hand fly the short leg to Thompson and land with no prior training on the PA31 while he smoked cigarettes in the cabin.

Their King Air is up for sale, "can't find the link right now though
Re: Keystone
Maybe the "word" is getting out? I know their management has been knocking on doors looking for business. If the phone doesn't ring, it's me!rigpiggy wrote:Their King Air is up for sale, "can't find the link right now though
Re: Keystone
a little birdie told me that Manitoba Hydro is now taking their business elsewhere? That would be a kick in the money sack.
Re: Keystone
Hydro still flys with them and they've had a surplus king air for almost a year, it's the one they acquired to try and break into the medivac market an idea they later abandoned.
I don't think these are nessecarily signs of troubled times.
People on the inside say they are slowly returning to a sense of normalcy.

Re: Keystone
To return to a sense of "normalcy", one would have to have been, sometime in the past, in a sense of "normalcy" in the first place. You can't get "back into shape" if you've never been "in shape" in the first place. They never have been.AllClutch wrote: People on the inside say they are slowly returning to a sense of normalcy.
Question still stands: Why do they still have an OC? BTW, that's an invitation for someone from TC to hit this one out of the park.

Heard from a friend at another operator who picked up some of Keystone's work. The client refuses to use them because one of their workers was injured in a Navajo due to extreme turbulence when flying through a storm. The worker was off of work for 6 months. The pilot's excuse was that he did not have enough fuel to fly around the storm.

Okay, that one sounds like an "urban legend".SnotRocket wrote:

BTW, LOVE the handle "SnotRocket"!
Re: Keystone
I know that Fast Air actually picked up a lot of the hydro work.
