I don't get what is so hard to understand. If you would like to enter into employment with this company, and you have 1000 hours, this is the position or level at which you may do so.

With no knowledge of this company other than what I can glean from the job ad, I would guess that the bulk of their business is survey work. Probably means a lot of government work which probably means contract requirements call for a minimum pilot experience level of 1000 hours. Hence, an entry level position with this company.

They use the "entry level" guise to justify shit pay.
Just like the Trek Aviation ad looking for a 1st year apprentice for $12 an hour. I pay my dishwashers more than that....

It is entry level for that company. Other companies entry level positions may have higher or lower requirements depending on the operation. An entry level position with Cathay Pacific versus an entry level position with Uncle Jim-Bob's Crap-Shoot Air Taxi and Bait Shop, are likely worlds apart in terms of minimum requirements. The term "entry level job" does not imply that it only requires 200 hours, even though you may have inferred that. Also, I wouldn't say that a 1000TT requirement is high, like it or not, it's still pretty entry level. Regardless, it doesn't matter what the label on the job ad is. You're getting hung up on the wrong details. Your opinion of what constitutes an entry level position and whether or not a requirement is justifiable, is irrelevant. If you want the job and have the time, apply. If not, move along. Very simple.

Just to play devil's advocate, I have to say that Cathay is currently only hiring low-timers for their entry-level second officer program. I know a number who have gone with less than 1000 hours, and several who only have their bare CPL.
