Post by jetsam »

Hello,
my son ask me what plane is similar to 18 wheeler truck, in terms of weight and capacity AW Argosy comes to mind, hovewer 18 wheeler have 1 driver, and Argosy have crew of 3 or 4. What are others "flying 18 wheelers" in your opinion?

A standard 18 wheeler can carry +/- 50,000 lbs of payload. That puts it in the ballpark of the 727-200 and the Space Shuttle, as far as payload goes. The MTOW of the C-27J is a little bit less than what a loaded out 18 wheeler would weigh.
