Bearskin Airlines Saab 340

Post by 52TulaSKS »

Does anybody know if Bearskin still has Calm Air's Saab, C-FTLW? I noticted here http://www.bearskinairlines.com/aircraft.shtml that they took the Saab of the page. I also noticed on the Canadian Aircraft Registry list that Bearskin has imported 2 more Metroliners so they have 16 of them now.

I saw a Saab with Bearskin colours parked at the north end of Pearson near Landmark about a week ago...

Calm Air operated one of its Saab 340s for Bearskin for 8 months last year. Employees were told that they would be operating the aircraft for a period, and then two Saabs would be sold to Bearskin. I guess those plans changed.

When that flying ended, the aircraft was never painted back to it's original colours, and Calm Air continues to operate the aircraft on its own routes. It gets used for charters and for confusing passengers in northern Manitoba here and there.

They still have it and operate it with the Bearskin paint scheme. I doubt that they'll return it to it's Calm Air colours as they're getting rid of the Saab's. Don't know how long that will take though.

I found it a few days ago. Seemed to have the Bearskin paint mostly removed, at least the Bear paw and on the front side a small basic "Calm Air" logo put back on.
