Just a quick heads up to let everyone know that the "Airpark Cafe" is holding a Grand Opening event
this Sat.
Not sure what all is going on but there will be some vintage aircraft displayed and I am sure some others things as well
The Cafe has actually been open a couple of week now and I have been able to sample many of the dishes.I am happy to report the food is much better than the average airport grub and the prices are very competitive.
Now that we have good food and 24 hrs gas, things are starting pick up at Guelph again.

Thanks for the update, Fleet, and good to hear that Guelph is doing better: it's a nice airpark and things were looking pretty bleak not that long ago. Maybe there is still hope for GA in SW Ontario.
Yes it is great to see some positive things happening in the smaller areas of aviation.
The Airpark has great potential and the new owners really wish to make a go of it.
They are new to aviation and in this case maybe it's a good thing as they have started of with fresh eyes and
an attitude untainted by the industry.
Scuba , I'll watch for you and your Cub on the ramp
My aircraft will most likely be on the ramp Sat. , #4494

Hey very nice , I am honored that you chose my aircraft for the website ..... thank you
I hope to have her front and centre on the ramp for Opening Day
I just got back from the opening, it was a great time and very caroused with some sweet airplane action. Fleet I must have missed you I did not check this post till I got home but im sure I admired you airplane was it one of the finch's? If you ever need some rear seat ballast count me in . Looked like you guys were having a blast.
A really good turn out for the open house.
As well as some aircraft that we have never seen come into Guelph before, there were many towns people also.
The Diner was so packed for breakfast that I waited till lunch to eat.
Took the Fleet up a few times and along with the other Fleet did some formation displays etc.
Closed out the day by taking the Baby Ace for a spin before tucking her back in the hanger
All in all a really successful day ! Look really good on the new owners.
Special thanks to all the guys that flew in and to Kevin P. our COPA President who also dropped by to support the event.
Scuba Steve I'll watch for your Cub and see if we can arrange something.
Thank-you to all who attended our Grand Opening yesterday. It was a great success and it was really nice to see all of the activity on the ground and in the air.
Thanks also to fleet, The Tiger Boys, 3Point, CHAA and all of the other fly-in traffic for their tremendous support of the event. It would not have been the success it was without the support of wonderful people, clubs and organizations like you.
For those who missed it, plan to come to the field for the Tiger Boy's Open House this Sept 15th and 16th. There will be a hangar pancake breakfast each morning until 11:00 AM in support of The Tiger Boys, 3 Point Aviator and The AirPark Cafe. The Tiger Boys will be hosting a BBQ outside their hangar each day as well. Of course, the restaurant will also be open for business as usual 7AM-3PM.
It will be a great chance to see all the Fleet Finch's, Tiger Moths, Cornells and various other vintage and homebuilt aircraft both on the ground and in the sky.
Both jet and 100 LL where I am, old tanks out was north of 50 K$ with skid mounted tanks , singleton with 100 LL and a booth to pay in should be closer to 30.
They dont get rich on the fuel mark up,.
Environmental is what drives the cost up, they are all double walled tanks these days, and above ground is probably where they are all headed.
Thanks to all who organized the weekend event and especially the Tiger Moth rides - My wife had a great time on one of the raffled flights. - Thank you!
see you in September
Cheers
Guelph has very short runways with interesting
terrain features around it. For example, on my
latest landing out of the north, I had to time the
cars on the road running east/west on the north
side of the runway, and put my tailwheel in a gap
between them.
That could be pretty sporty at night, especially if
you are not very familiar with the airport.
Departing to the east requires some attention as well.. 2000 ft surface with rising terrain and trees directly after departing. With a high density altitude day and at gross weight, you will for sure want to double check your take off run
Thanks guys. Ended up landing in CYKF for the night. Had a pretty interesting experience with those trees off 05 on departure this morning...glad I didn't try that one at night.
Landing from the north, I kept it high and slipped it down to avoid dealing with the cars. Couldn't make out if the power lines crossed the path or were grounded. I'll take a look tomorrow morning.
