Maddening, because it's not so far fetched.
Does anyone know if they did toxicology on Sully immediately after the Hudson?

I'm actually looking forward to seeing this.

Not like the one with the Navajo, pretty pilot, and a flying squid.

Looks like the English version of Michel Côté's "Entre Ciel et Terre" about Captain Piché from Air Transat and the flight he landed in the Azores.... Anonymous pilot, emergency, saves the aircraft + people on board, becomes famous, problems uncovered about pilot....

Anyways, I'm a huge Denzel fan so I'll probably see it anyways.

Not knowing much about the movie, the trailer seems to allude to the Alaska Airlines accident where they had a runaway jack screw in the horizontal stab and ended up nosing over to the inverted in an attempt to stay in the air.

I'll be going to see it for sure! denzel doesnt usually disappoint. seems like he knows what scripts to choose and which to avoid like the plague. Much like that other class act. Tom Hanks.

Denzel likes act in films about transportation. 3 of his last 6 movies were about a plane or train!

Flight - Upcoming
Unstoppable - 2010
Taking of Pelham 123 - 2009

There are few actors who seem to always be worth watching. Denzel is one of them, so I'm in. I'll watch this movie.

Surprisingly, I find another one of those actors is Marky Mark. I would love to hate him, but I don't.

Plus this movie has another extremely underrated actor in it: Don Cheadle.
I'm in.

Hey, that one was... Entertaining.

Unlike Altitude though, this movie actually looks good.

BUMP!

This is a bit of a follow up as I just bought the movie and watched it at home.

I don't know any airline guys that depart in that kind of wx and hit the gas like that!

Turb air speed would be the limit not the vne clacker LOL!

If you can flick your aviator suspension of disbelief switch to the OFF position its still pretty good after the aviation scenes anyway!

I give it a worth watching at home thumbs up!

I did the same yesterday. Yes the flying part was pretty much a complete joke (including the CA doing the walkaround in the pouring rain  ).

The story overall was pretty good- but I'm a sucker for good endings.
Denzel is one of a few actors that I think will be around for many many years.

"Staring" Denzel Washington - am I going to have to complain to the Human Rights Tribunal? Albino Rhino is gone, now glass-eyed (as opposed to glassy-eyed, in my case, or steely-eyed, as in Rowdy's) actors are facing ridicule. Really.

I watched it the other night. Pretty reminiscent of "the Pilot" written by Robert Davis. Cliff Robertson starred in the movie.

Watched the show the other night. Flying parts could be believable

The thing that makes this movie a fake is this.....

There is no way a guy can go through a divorce, pay alimony and child support and still have money to keep up a cocaine and alcohol habit like he did. PURE FICTION!

Fantastic movie - airplanes and flying aside.

A couple of my friends are struggling with various types of addition and substance abuse. One isn't aware he has a problem, despite interventions, and repetitive destructive behavior. Addicts are deceitful and convincing not just to others, but even worse - to them selves.

Sadly, not everyone can be helped out of this crippling disease of dependency. And it doesn't discriminate its demographic either. Surgeons to the pan-handling bum (or in this case an airline pilot).

Anyway, back to the movie. That co-joe needs to grow a set.

The movie was tiring and way too dragged on. I just like the fact that it shows what alcohol can do to ones career.

definitely used Alaska airlines jackscrew incident as a model for this movie and possibly the United alcohol situation when the captain was kicked off the flight by his crew
Theory could make sense on the inverted but as to maneuver that well is a little far fetched
Selling the drama a bit but I like how he took control flew the plane and used CRM tactics
There obviously is a moral implication here
John Goodman's character was an add on and totally useless
Just there to fill the prescription..... lame
Greenwood and Cheadle were good

My most recent wife bought me the movie last night. We will probably watch it over a beer or two tonight. No coke though as I am still recovering from a previous divorce and can no longer afford coke....
