Why cant flight schools market like this?

Post by PilotHarry7 »

Why does it take a professional sports team to get a flying club some marketing? Why can't schools do this themselves?

More people would fly if they did...

Flying schools are not typically swimming in profits even though flying is so expensive. They might have needed a loan to buy those stickers on the strut before filming started. Usually a sports team can at least get sponsorship money to help make that sort of promotional material.

Dude ... they just did! Do you think something like this happens by accident?

Kudos to them for creating some buzz, investing only an hour or so of flying time (and a little bit for the vinyl stickers.)

They don't need to market - there's a long line of people outside the doors just waiting to come in to fill the pilot shortage  ...

Ha funny. 3/4 of the people that inquire about getting a PPL turn tail at the estimate of 10-12K to get there.

Doubt it. There seems to be an abundance of soft/sheltered young adults with wealthy daddies in this business. :goodman:

I'm in a rural area where most of population doesn't like spending money and the richer folk are mostly in the city nearer other flight schools. That said most of the people that get so far as a discovery flight have already done a little research and know what they are getting themselves into hehe.

We've all said/heard it before.....If you want to make a small fortune in aviation, just start with a large one. :-)
