Thunder is looking for a 'van driver. I've always been a big fan of the 'van. (That rhymes) What kind of work does the Caravan do in YTS? Would probably be a good gig. As usual, BobM has no problems posting salaries. Couple of years in, that's pretty good paying 'van job.

Sked runs up and down the coast.
Mail.
A few contracts here and there.
Other random cargo stuff that is too big to fit in a King Air.
Usual caravan stuff really. Nothing too exciting, but good fun.

It'd be a wise long term move on they're part to have a sit down with you. It's cheaper in the long run to pick up a permanent, experienced guy. I lived in YTS.....enjoyed the town, and the people.

What is the name of the dance hall? Solid gold?
Ya, it's a thriving city. As far as the job goes, I would need a small commuter airplane, 1 hr away. I know 1 pilot who has been there for years. I think it is one of the better operators in N Ont.

A few years ago when there was a hiring boom on I think they were offering something like 70K base salary plus 5k in hiring bonus/moving assistance and 5k bonus for staying a year. My numbers might not be exact but it was up there. You can see why there are so many 'lifers' at Thunder where as places like Bravo have revolving doors. I wonder which makes better business sense over the long term?

Thunder's pay scale is not just about keeping pilot training cost down by keeping a revolving
Door closed, it's business sense.
You pay/treat right, yes people will stay. That said when people stay you will always
have experience at the controls which in turn also lowers insurance costs.
Thunder found many years ago that this I key, so they stuck with this practice. Even after
the airlines stopped hiring they kept paying high as the bonus's of it paid off immensely.
