VFR in Quebec

Post by BOOMER_12 »

Hi, can VFR in the province of Quebec tell me in which city they started their career?

I'm due to pass my exam in a month and was wondering should I pass, do I ask for VFR formation and be ready to go anywhere in the province or IFR and have the security of working in Dorval.

I started directly at the ACC. Did my "formation" (training) there, qualified, then transferred laterally a few years later. I'm told that to transfer "down" to a tower from that point can be a little more problematic. Though I've never been plagued by that desire, when I was wondering the same thing as you are now, I was urged by others to start VFR because while it doesn't usually pay as well (unless you're in one of the busiest towers) it's a more enjoyable workspace, it's a good experience to go through, there's a greater number of places you can work at (42 towers vs 7 ACC's) and it's simple to request a transfer to an ACC later since its considered an "up bid" rather than the opposite. J'espère que ça t'aide.
