CanJet expands fleet

Vancouver Sun - June 4, 2005

TORONTO -- CanJet Airlines said it may use planes other than its Boeing Co. 737s as the airline expands its fleet.

The Nova Scotia-based low-cost carrier, which flies 10 leased Boeing 737s, is reviewing other planes with 90 to 150 seats, such as Airbus SAS's A320.

The carrier, which flies across Canada and to New York and Florida, plans to add two to three aircraft a year. It added Boeing 737-500s to serve routes to Calgary and Vancouver this year.

What's the status of Canjet's RVSM certification ? Are all their planes certified ?

I'm not in the loop... but I would assume they are. How else could you run an airline without it? Especially the -500s.

I think the 737-500 was the best choice for them. Not too old, not too new, cheap to operate. I saw their -500 in Ottawa a few days ago. Looks good in their colours.

Just send your resume and if they want you for an interview they will contact you via email. Better yet, if you know someone get them to bring it in.

The entire fleet of 8 -500’s and 2 -200’s are RVSM. All the 737’s have been RVSM since day one except two -200’s but they have left the fleet.

very true...pestering a company will get your application nowhere except straight to the recycle bin. People who work for an expanding airline tend to be busy, and if they answered all the "are you hiring, did you get my resume" calls, e-mails, etc. they would have no time to talk to the people they actually want to hire. Patience is a virture when job-hunting.

If you want in, get someone you know who works there to put a word in for you, then send it again!

That would be the last nail in the Canjet coffin. I bet Canjet is gone by the spring 06 anyway.

Not to mention how quickly American Airlines got rid of their Fokker jets just soon as they got them!
