King Air at Lloydminster?
I heard a 3 year old King Air pancaked it in at Lloydminster last month in icing. Any more info on this? They say it is a total loss.

Narrative: UPDATE TSB reported that the privately operated Beech B200GT King Air, registration C-GPNE, operating as flight VLC 107, was on an IFR flight from Calgary to Lloydminster, Alberta, with two crew and seven passengers on board. An RNAV global navigation satellite system (GNSS) approach was conducted onto Runway 26 at Lloydminster and icing conditions were encountered during the approach. The required visual references were not achieved and a missed approach was carried out. The flight entered a hold and was subsequently cleared for an RNAV GNSS approach to Runway 08. The second approach was conducted at 140 knots reducing to 100 knots (Vref) at threshold crossing. The approach was steepened shortly before touchdown, after the runway was observed. A hard landing occurred which resulted in substantial damage to the aircraft. Three passengers sustained minor injury; the flight crew and four other passengers were uninjured. After shutdown, a build-up of mixed ice was observed on the unprotected areas of the airframe and underside of each wing, from the leading edge aft to about eight inches behind the leading edge. Aircraft brake material was picked up from the runway during a runway check. The CVR has been recovered from the aircraft and will be forwarded to the TSB Engineering Laboratory.

Re: King Air at Lloydminster?
I understood that it was a B200GT operated by Albatross Air out of Calgary. I believe they are associated with some sort of "warbird" group and the Million Air coming to CYYC.
The incident was the same day as the C560 in CYEG. Ice played an issue there as well.

Re: King Air at Lloydminster?
The King Air was in fact operated by the Albatross group, possibly one of the best run AC Management organizations in Western Canada, the pilot is a very high time, highly experienced aviator with experience in a lot of heavy iron, I also know him personally as well as the owners, and all key people.
Million Air will be a success in Calgary, their are very honest and respectful of all their clients, unlike some of the fractional operators that have come and gone in this city.
I wish them the best
