Harbour Air
Just curious. Anyone know what happened to the adds for pilots Harbour Air displayed just before Xmas??
Re: Harbour Air
They probably took them down. I think the posting ended December 31

Re: Harbour Air
Just thought it strange that they filled the 8 positions so soon. Nothing open either on their web site for career opportunities. Thought it was a bit quick considering the so called shortage of mid time float pilots.

Re: Harbour Air
I like how there is the boilerplate requirement to be able to work in "a fast paced team environment". That is about the worst description I've ever heard of the cockpit of a single Otter.

Re: Harbour Air
It looks like they posted 8 positions (4 for the Otter and 4 for the Beaver) but if their training program is good I would expect the Beaver pilots to fill the Otter jobs and thereby leaving the Beaver positions open, but we'll see.
Re: Harbour Air
I'd think there's a good number of beaver pilots who don't want to "transition" into "Co-Pilot" on a turbo swine.

"Co-Pilot"?? I thought they ran single pilotGUMPS wrote:I'd think there's a good number of beaver pilots who don't want to "transition" into "Co-Pilot" on a turbo swine.
Re: Harbour Air
Relic! Your right, its all single pilot with the exception of the Twin Otter.
Re: Harbour Air
And I believe they are quite strict about minimum times for their machines, so regardless of what a nice guy you are or how long you've been in the Beaver, until you have 3000 hours PIC on floats, no Turbo Otter for you.
Re: Harbour Air
I must be mistaken than. I was told they were going to be flying two crew in the single otter and taking 15 passangers. It wouldn't be a shock to me if I was wrong. Been over a year since I was on the Wet Coast.
Re: Harbour Air
Gumps! You are also right, to a degree! There are a few companies grandfathered in flying more than 9 single pilot on the Turbo Otter. Harbour Air is one and I believe another is Transwest in SK. This is through a special STC. I doubt anyone could now obtain such a request.

Re: Harbour Air
single pilot, but it is 704 and there's an exemption to carry more than nine with one crew. It also involves a vfr PPC.GUMPS wrote:I must be mistaken than. Re: Harbour Air
Ah! very interesting. That's good cause I'm sure endless back and forth over the . would get rather boring when you're sitting in the right seat. I didn't get tired of it in the beaver, then again I was further up the coast.
On the topic of HA, are they flying the twin otters much?

Re: Harbour Air
Twin's are flying plenty, they service the Vancouver to Victoria route and make several trips a day. Every once in a blue moon you even see them up on a tour, not the best vehicle for sightseeing though. One of the three twins has just seen an overhaul and will be able to carry a max of 19 passengers and make the trip in about 25 -30 minutes. A second twin has just gone South to also get a facelift.
The single's are indeed operated with a single pilot and have a maximum passenger load of 14, not a bad haul for a single pilot in my opinion.
Fly Safe.

Re: Harbour Air
What kind of a facelift are they getting? Is it the upgross kit for 100 series and new -34 engines? That would be swell.
Re: Harbour Air
A 100 is still a 100. Sell it to someone who wants a twin but doesn't care about capacity. Spend the money and upgrade!! 300 or 400. It's not rocket science, just finance. 30% more capacity, bigger better engines, newer technology....

Re: Harbour Air
I think they're upgrading to the 200HGW - 12,500lbs and zero timed - not a bad little piece of kit!

Re: Harbour Air
The 'new' TO is a -100 that was upgraded to 200HG (12,500 MTOW), 19 seats and -27 engines. And yes, it is pretty sweet
