Instructor rating extensions??

Hi, my class 2 is expiring at the end of the month. I was slated to do a refresher course next week, however its been canceled last minute and the only other one being offered this month (Seneca) would cause a major scheduling conflict. Has anyone here had experience regarding getting approval for a ~3 month extension from TC? Is this something they are usually ok with or is it a pretty rare event?

thanks!

I'm in the same situation. While I haven't gotten a definitve answer yet, the preliminary advice I have so far from Transport is "don't get your hopes up. Unless it's just a few days for weather, it really isn't done anymore."

Argh.

Only time I've seen a 90 day extension was when TC cancelled a renewal ride, it became their fault that the rating would have lapsed. But it would be a new one for me to see an "outside source" other than weather to cause TC to offer an extension. Class II rides aren't the end of the world, but when given the choice I opted for a course as well.

If you've never taken the refresher course before, you
probably will enjoy it and learn a lot. Probably more than
you would learn during a flight test.

Over the decades I've taken many different refresher
courses put on by many different people and they were
all worthwhile - if you can spare the time.
