I work for a small airline that just received a letter stating that Air Canada is cancelling our z-fare/ID travel agreement for "commercial reasons" Supposedly we aren't the only ones.

Is this happening to any one else out there??

Yup... Another one just got the notice after at least 10 years of having the agreement.

A very big shock to almost 1000 employees!

I wonder how AC employees feel about that. Bearskin also cancelled benefits with them.

Zed fare deals with AC used to be such a draw for working at companies other than Red or Blue....

Any chance they will come back down road ?

at 5T..yes.

There are no changes to the jumpseat program at the moment that i'm aware of.

Commuting with a Zed fare can get very expensive. Most guys use reciprocal jump seat agreements to commute, so at company's that have jumpseat agreements it isn't going to affect commuting much. More of a issue for F/A' s and family, or vacation travel.

I was under the impression that it doesn't cost AC anything for ZED fare's..the administration and fees are paid for by the ticket price. Would love to know why they chose to cancel them. Any ideas?

Around 4 years at the moment..prone to change with no notice

Rumours here are that AC cancelled all Zed's with ATAC member airlines in retaliation for ATAC protesting against AC's pension deficit agreement with the fed gov. If true kind of a petty move, but not all that surprising i guess.

Well then if that's true that would pretty much shoot down that rumour. In any case I hope its a temporary thing.

Why doesn't somebody just post which airlines lost their Zed fares with AC. This is not top secret stuff.

5T lost them, but not the reciprocal jumpseat as far as i know.

Calm Air has not had ZED fairs in at least 3 years with AC...
