Whats that overhead?
Hey guys, havent posted in a long while as I have been on medical leave.
I just had a thought, I am sitting on my back deck and I hear this sound that is very load, I look up and out from the very overcast day bust a fast moving very loud and very low aircraft. Sounded to me like a turbo prop but man was it moving!!! I thought to myself man, I wish I knew what that was!
I am located just north of CNC3 and NE of CYKF The flight went overhead at about 00:00 zulu
Is there any software out there that can tell me what the heck that was. I listened to CYKF tower for a few minutes but I dont think it went there.
It sure we be cool if I could somehow find out what that that aircraft was

Re: Whats that overhead?
Try FlightAware... a Piaggio Avanti flew somewhere vaguely over the area you describe and landed at Waterloo at 00:01Z.

Re: Whats that overhead?
The P180 was approaching south directly over Guelph / CNC4 at 3000' msl for approach to CYKF ... was nearly 0000Z. (Brampton is "CNC3", maybe a bit far west for that location ?). At 7:54 local time dropped down from 4000msl in an area of heavy cloud near Rockwood (using flightaware 'aviation sectional').
Makes quite a loud but interesting sound ... "speaks Italian" ... was travelling 7-8km per minute and slowing down to 6-7 km/min. This one flown by Avantair; they've got quite a few, ... are based in NJ and FL.
Guelph field elevation is 1100'msl ... so was at around 2000' AGL.

Probably had variable tailwinds on final as well....

LOL
Long landing footage at CYKF, ... can't be all that worried for screwing up glideslope into overrun/overshoot. Piaggio Avanti lands typically inside of 4K.

You use so many words to say so little, its kind of a tragic
comedy
to read your posts.

Re: Whats that overhead?
He wasn't sure if anyone anywhere checked for variable tailwinds on final. What, are you new here?

Re: Whats that overhead?
Anyway, slightly more kinetic energy is all. Passed overhead (172sMatt) at 250kts ... down to 130kts by the time it's on final.
