Re: rumour?
I really hope not because my lottery winning scenario involves a turbo Bigfoot. But one has to wonder about how many orders they have in this economic climate.

Sad news a couple weeks ago...
NATHAN KEITH "BUD" FOUND
Passed away peacefully on March 31, 2013 in his 89th year. Bud was born in Kenaston, SK on a 1000 acre farm pioneered in 1907 by his father. Bud was the fifth of five brothers. Predeceased by his father Richard Henry Found, his mother Ethel Darland (nee Cannam) and brothers Sherman, Dwight, Grey and Virgil. Bud is survived by his loving wife Gwen (nee Dingwall) and his nieces and nephews: Captain SR (Rick) Found, his wife Corrine and their children Richard (Sarah) and Heather of North Bay, ON; Dr. Gary Found, his wife JoAnn and daughter Gina of Modesto, CA; and Jack Balderston, his wife Mary and children Christopher and Jamie of Barrie, ON; David Dingwall, his wife Judy and children Steven and Michael of Calgary, AB. Bud had a career in aviation spanning a 73 year period. Starting in 1937 with Aircraft Repair in Edmonton (a division of MacKenzie Air Service), he came to Ontario in 1944 and with his brother Sherman established Found Brothers Aviationin 1946. Forced to retire in the mid sixties due to economic conditions, he turned his entrepreneurial talents to stock and real estate investment. In both areas he became highly successful. In 1992, while vacationing in British Columbia and Alaska, he was pressured by many FBA owners to reinstate the aircraft. At almost 70 years of age he accepted the challenge and established Found Aircraft Canada Inc. in Parry Sound and introduced the Found Bush Hawk. In 2001, Bud was made an Honorary Fellow of The Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute. Then in 2002, Found Aircraft Canada received an award from IRAP (Industrial Research Assistance Programme) and the Department of Industry for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Effort. At Bud's request, cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of his Life will follow at a later date. Care entrusted to the Ward Funeral Home (416-241-4618). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Please visit Bud's Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com

Re: rumour?
It is only a rumor that we at Found Aircraft are closing. We are in this morning receiving calls and e-mails on this rumor and post. Rumors like this often start when a Founder of a company passes. Bud had not been involved with the day to day operations at Found for over 10 years.
Our website is down due to issues our service provider is having and will be up hopefully today as they are working on the problem right now. If anyone has any questions or concerns they can call us directly at 705-378-0530 extension 230 or drop in. As always if you’re looking for an aircraft, aircraft maintenance (yes we are also an AMO), or interiors please give us a call.
If you want to see some of the work we are doing lately come visit and like us on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Found-Air ... ref=stream.

Re: rumour?
As a 30 year veteran of this industry ( in maint, manufacturing and flying) I have worked with Found on wing assembly and "found" the company being soo far behind the learning/maturity curve that is was either of 2 things. 1) a tax write-off for the rich owner(s) or 2) a sinkhole for government grants. Too little real aviation world expertise on the shop floor, low productivity, A complex build for a small aircraft, An ignorant shop manager,,,, shall I go on ? Good riddance I say !

Re: rumour?
Haven't had much to do with the company or their aircraft. Just remember talking to one of their sales guys a few years back. Maybe 30 or so. Was impressed with his extensive knowledge. Hope everything continues on.
Re: rumour?
Never understood why they stop production of the original IO-540 Bush Hawk and took 3-4 years to certify the tri-gear Expedition line, they had orders for the Bush Hawk and a good aircraft for the bush and this pissed a lot of dealers.
Im with you crazy aviator and asked me the same questions over the years.

Re: rumour?
They have been in bankruptcy since June trying to sell the company, hopefully it happens soon. We have still been shipping parts and helping customers but it is getting harder.
