RP logging time?

Post by Krimson »

Do relief pilots log the time they fly as well as the captain and fo?

If so, what portion of the flight do they log (what time does the capt and fo log as well -if they are not in the cockpit)?

No - like second officer time from a previous era.

Does it matter at this point in your career? Most people have more than enough hours to go anywhere else by the time they get to AC anyway. And very few (less than 0.5 percent of the pilot group) ever leave for greener pastures.

Just curious if a low time pilot was taken on with AC, got an RP position for a few years and got laid-off; if that pilot would have a good shot at getting another job. If air travel did decline over the next 5-10 years, and everyone's minimums went up, that pilot would be pooched unless he could log his RP time.

RP's hold a type rating on the aircraft. So they can log FO time for the time they spend in a seat flying.

Does this mean the F/O in the left seat can log Ca. time while the skipper is snoozing?

Enquiring minds are waiting........

I suppose you could turn off the autopilot and hand fly like someone did a few years back if you feel like you aren't really a pilot though!
