I've been looking around online, still I don't have the answer I'm looking for...
I was wonder if there are any companies taking on a person WITHOUT any experience as a AME sponsorship?
I would like to know which schools offers if there one?
I best learn on hands-on training, so rather than go through theory study, I would like to be in a company where I can learn hands-on.
Thanks,
Jay
AME apprenticeship?

Re: AME apprenticeship?
There is no way to avoid the theoretical part of basic training, either through ICS correspondence or through an accredited school.
I believe stevensons in Manitoba offers a traditional style apprenticeship schooling (six weeks a year) but any way you go you have four pesky tech exams and a CARS exam at the end.
It's worth it to do the schooling.

Re: AME apprenticeship?
I know a couple companies that I have seen take learners in and while they're working, they also go through schooling which is paid by the company. These apprentices went through the Stevenson program.
Or you can go take the ICS course online and after that apply for jobs. A lot of companies these days don't take ICS student either. The safest way is to go through full time programs then apply for a job as you would have completed all of your technical exams in school and the only thing you have left is to fill out a logbook at work then go write your CARS exam once you gain enough working experience time and logbook approved by TC.
You are going to have to go through the theory stuff anyways. That is the only way if you ever want to get licensed. Or else you'll always stay as an apprentice and get paid very crappy.
You can call companies and ask to speak to the director of maintenance and see what they say. Forget about calling airlines (Air Canada, Westjet, Canadian North, Air North, Canjet, Air Transat, Porter Airlines, First Air.....etc) cause they don't take learners.
Good luck!

ICS will require the tech exams at the end, plus CARs.
Stevenson is 9 weeks a year - you can collect EI & (sometimes) a housing allowance. The tech exams are covered in the training - at the end, you will (only?) need to write CARs.
