Reading between the lines, Amphibious/upside down. First thing that pops into my mind is yet another preventable accident.Rowdy wrote:Very sad.. What was wx like at the time? They say privately registered but doing survey?
"...float plane he was piloting was found upside down and partially submerged in a remote lake south of Fort McMurray." and this from the Globe and mail. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nat ... e13943300/ "Lee says the amphibious plane was privately registered........."

I'm guessing they mean he was going to survey on land once he got to the lake.Rowdy wrote:Very sad.. What was wx like at the time? They say privately registered but doing survey?
I agree it's sad to read about the outcome.
Edit: the Globe and Mail story states the purpose of the flight was to do survey work.

they were doing aerial survey work.. I believe the pilot was setting out ground GPS base stations for another aircraft that carries out the survey.
