Stephen Penikett RIP
Stephen PENIKETT Obituary
PENIKETT, Stephen R. December 20, 1950 - October 2, 2013 After a brief, but devastating illness, we let Steve slip the surly bonds of Earth to fly high in cloudless skies. He will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, dry humour, unwavering support, endless generosity and big heart. Steve loved a good argument, especially if he won. His early years were filled with scouting and adventures beside his father whom he greatly admired and respected. On his father's advice he earned his AME licence along with his pilot's licence. His aviation career was nothing short of legendary, taking him around the world. He became the "go-to" person for anything Twin Otter related. Steve took a great deal of pride in being the General Manager of Kenn Borek Air Ltd., and dedicated much of his life to realizing the company's motto "Anytime....Anywhere". He had a great love for all animals, especially his dogs who already miss him dearly. He also loved car racing, in particular F1, and would routinely get up at 5:00 a.m. to watch a race. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Laura, his son Matthew, brothers Tony and Andy (Judy), sister Sally (Vince), nieces, nephews and many dear loyal friends. An informal gathering to share stories, laughter and memories will be held October 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Western Avionics, 275 Palmer Road N.E., Calgary.

Re: Stephen Penikett RIP
I Worked for Steve. He was not my favorite person, but he did build Borek into what it is today. Ill also admit that Borek started to go a bit sideways after he retired (same time I left Borek).
He didn't always use tact or diplomacy to get what he wanted, but he did always manage to get the job done, and kept the business profitable along the way. He was a brilliant businessman.
I send my deepest condolences to Mr. Penikett`s friends and family.

Re: Stephen Penikett RIP
I met Steve Penikett in Inuvik 1980. Never ran into him again and Ive been in and out of the Twin Otter world ever since.
Re: Stephen Penikett RIP
I worked for Steve for about 10 years. Like many other pilots I had some issues with him, but in the bigger scheme of things ....he made us all better pilots and much wiser people. His standards were very high ..... he demanded the best and always managed to achieve that standard. He was a very knowledgable engineer, an amazing pilot and perhaps the best GM in the aviation industry. He was a leader and we all respected his abilities in that capacity. Although it was Kenn's money. it was Steve's intelligence that made KBA what it is today.
I could not make it to your memorial Steve but my thoughts were with you. May you always enjoy fair winds, blue skies and a smooth scotch. Happy landings ....
