Good morning forum,

I have an ICAO English level 6 issued by transport canada, I took the test about a year ago. My question is: Is my ICAO level 6 internationally regconized? I currently reside in Vietnam and one of the airline asks for ICAO level 4...I'm confused whether my level 6 is sufficient or will the Civil Aviation Authority make me sit another test?

Does any Canadian pilots working overseas have/had experience regarding this ICAO language proficiency matter?

Level 6 is the highest. I believe they call it "Expert" in Canada. Level 4 is "Operational Level"

They are internationally recognized by ICAO (Canada being an ICAO Member)

Read Section 1.3 Aviation Language Proficiency.

It depends on the countries.

The Netherlands for example don't recognize English tests from some Asian countries, even though they were both ICAO countries. Only way to be sure is to contact the local CAA.
