Has nothing to do with 24/7. They selected Delta because Delta offered the lowest price. I find it fascinating that their home is the Air Canada Centre, yet they ride around on a US carrier. Dollars and cents rule.

Air Canada has no real connection to the ACC - except in name. Their T.O. HQ has been out of that building for years now.
Re: Leafs using Delta Airlines?
Nothing to do with price at all. We are more expensive than our competition (Miami Air, Swift, Delta etc...) but many of the teams still want to fly us (and in fact many that we have never flown have tried to sign on with us). The depressing truth is that Air Canada does not want anymore of the JETZ flying. They went around to all of the teams and tried to get them to leave for this year but they have a contract for 1 or 2 more years depending on which team it is, those teams forced our hands to fly them this year. They want those fins at Rouge and want to stop the JETZ flying.
The people who run JETZ are such a fantastic bunch of guys/gals. The FAs (no AC flight attendant jokes please) are absolutely top notch and we had dedicated FAs and mechanic for each team. It truly was an amazing product that was better than the companies that do it as their main business. Unless the tides change there will be 2 more years of the flying and then it will be wrapped up.

I wouldn't write that on the side of the planesZBBYLW wrote:Nothing to do with price at all. We are more expensive than our competition.
But to back up what you have said, the Jetz service is/was superior to those you have mentioned; coming from those I know who use it. I didn't realize the whole thing was being halted. Sad to lose such a good product. I still contest that accountants were more than pleased to cut their charter expenses, it's quite a difference from what I have heard.

How does Delta handle point to point within Canada?
How do you go 205 kts TAS on 32 gal/hr without turbos!
Re: Leafs using Delta Airlines?
"Biscayne" is the callsign for Miami Air International. They do a lot of sports team charters.Braun wrote:Habs have been using biskane this year
There is some agreement between TC and the FAA (and maybe other government agencies) that sports team charters don't fall under the cabotage rules. AC Jetz flies American sports teams point to point in the US, as did previous companies, such as Starjet.midwingcrisis wrote:How does Delta handle point to point within Canada?

Re: Leafs using Delta Airlines?
Interesting, as I heard the Devils were using AC on their canadian road trip, and I figured that was due to cabotage.
Re: Leafs using Delta Airlines?
I'm curious, but does cabatoge apply to charters (705/121 supplemental)?

Re: Leafs using Delta Airlines?
My understanding is the way Jetz got around cabotage previously is that the entire season was basically an open charter or broken down into several charters that would all eventually end up in Canada at some point. AC types would know better who was served throughout the major pro sports but I believe there were several US based NHL teams on the list.

Except for the really poor teams like phoenix, who just own their own planes.

Re: Leafs using Delta Airlines?
Maybe they are using Delta because they have a choice and are sick of getting Jacked around by the A/C Baggage handlers and ground crew in Toronto. Sorry for the sour grapes but every time i fly AC and go thru Toronto it is a Jerk around. If you don't wait 1 hour for bags then you can wait for your aircraft to be towed to the gate. If its at the gate then you can wait for them to put water on it. I have flown thru Toronto on AC at least 6 times in the last year and every time there is an issue. I haves flown the same amount of times on the competition and have had no issues. I do love the big seats up front. But i have asked my employer to book me on the competition when ever possible.
