quest kodiak vs dehavilland single otter

which one would you use for a commercial float operation? I have read the kodiak has direct operating hourly costs of $400 an hour.

Just looking for other's opinions.

You really are keen, I will give you that. Problem with the Kodiak to my knowledge has been its load capabilities. It just can't take the stuff that an otter or a caravan can take. A certain operator in Red Lake had one for a while after operating Caravans for a long time and sold it after a year to buy another caravan.

Much dependant on the Otter being piston or turbine.
we have operated both Otters and Caravan and the only thing that scares me with the Kodiak is the Cabin area size which is 100 sqft less than the Caravan and even more than the Otter with same amount of seating. If you are considering any freight configuration the floor loading is also much lower on the Kodiak. The 3 doors is what I don't like. Put an airstair on like the Caravan you would have a great replacement for the Turbo Beaver, but I doubt the Otter or Caravan. The stock Caravan just lacks power, but that too is being looked after in changes coming up.

I would still take -2T over Kodiak as I can still fly skis in winter. And I can still carry a good load in -2T. But as in all aircraft, it all depends on the mission at hand.
