Re: Three Great AME's
I am so glad I got that photo. At the time it didn't seem like anything special..just 3 guys working on an airplane.
But later on I realized that these were 3 of the real old timers working together. Ronnie Morrison worked for Canadian Airways in the 1930's. He was born and raised in Ft. MacMurray c 1910. George Fournier was born and raised in the Gaspe area of Quebec. He eventually worked for Central Northern Airways, Transair, Hooker, and others in northern MB and Ontario. Unfortunatly I do not know much of the history for John Morris.

Re: Three Great AME's
Knew all three of those guys. Worked with George a lot. Ronnie, on and off in Pickle and just chatted with John a few times at the quanset hanger by the water . Vaguely remember Ronnie showing me his original licence. Back then you had to write an exam on every aircraft to be qualified to sign it out. Every Cub, Champ, Luscombe, everything. Now one licence covers every, piston powered aircraft under 12,500 lbs. I had just sold my house and quit my job at the paper mill to start my apprenticeship to be an engineer and saw these guys living in shacks that weren't fit for a donkey after a lifetime of work and thought "My God, is this where aviation is going to take me?"

Pickle Lake did not have a donkey -- it was always a "one horse town" I believe he was referred to as Moose but that is digging pretty deep

Re: Three Great AME's
Great to see to see a picture of Johnny Morris. Johnny worked with me out of Thunder Bay in the 1970's for a few years....good AME and great guy. Also knew Moose at Pickle Lake had a few rides after the hotel closed for the nite. Another story of that time was when Duchey flew the Bellanca for Transair. It was in the winter and we used to spread sawdust on the ice under the wings and told him the plane had termites as the aircraft had wooden spars.....had him worried for awhile.

Damn -- that brings back memories -- always would have breakfast at the cook shack and Moose would be camped out in the doorway."Moose" as supplied to me by NWONT.

Re: Three Great AME's
Great Photo. I also worked with Ronnie in Pickle Lake in the mid-70's. Told me a story about a whistling noise a Norseman was making that had him baffled for quite a while. Turned out, according to Ronnie, it was a beer bottle stuck inside the cowling!!
