Hey all, I was told by the recruiter in Victoria that I would know as soon as they said yeah or nay. Between Monday and Friday she said. Well Thurs has come and gone, has anyone heard anything? Am I just being a little nervous? Talking to one other candidate he hasn’t heard anything ether. Best of luck to all of you in the same boat, hope to see you all at St. Jean in sept.

Hey congrats! Vic told me sept start for basic officer training. I have done the ACS in trenton so my file is before the boards. If you dont mind my asking cheez what is your last name start with? The guys I have been talking too and my self have last names near the end of the alphabet, that might have somthing to do with it, or we are the bottom of the pile! Good luck there this summer!

I got it! The reason why they told me St-Jean was in June is because I would be on a French course.
Out of curiousity, how long did the process take from the time you applied and the time you got or got near to get your final answers? I applied two weeks ago and they said I could get to St-Jean as soon as June if all goes well, could it really be that fast?
Thanks,
Zatopec

I'm an F so fairly high on the list if it's alphabetical. I'm located in Calgary too so if there's a difference between recruiting centers, they're the ones who called me.
I applied Oct 3rd of last year. Seems like awhile so here's the break down of my time:
Oct 3rd All paperwork in including interview, CFAT, Eye exams, physical etc
Dec 5th Called to arrange the ACS date
Jan 6th ACS
Mar 22 Boards
It takes a long time for several reasons, from when you drop your papers off they need to go to Borden and get screened, and sent back, for me that took 8 weeks, since then things have been moving ahead at an alright pace.
I have a feeling that if they're telling you June it's not accurate. If they were to tell you January, you might not be as interested or excited as the June date and they don't want you to lose interest. A friend of mine in BC is applying also, and they fed him the June date (he's anglophone) Just my .02
Also, BOTC isn't split French/English as far as I know. Could be wrong on both points.

Hi Cheez,
Are they making you work for the summer at the recruiting center or do you have the option? Will the hours be full time or part time? Pay?
Congratulations by the way. I'm in the same boat although I went to ASC Feb 7-14...hope to hear something this week.
Good luck 172 Pilot and everyone else whose in the game.

I'm not sure if they're *making* me per-se. I wasn't about to turn them down you know? The hours are full time gov't worker hours I think, 8-4. and you draw the training salary same as BOTC, which you can go look up on the forces website if you don't already know it. As far as I'm concerned, it'll be great. Good lucky you guys.

Well I did not hear anything by fri aft around 4:00 So I called down to vic on the direct line that the recruiter gave me. Her voice mail informed me that she was out of the office till the 26th or april. So I called the extension listed and when that didnt work I called all the exentions till I got a human. It was answerd by a very curt individual who basicaly told me that they knew nothing more than me and he could not look up my file. I talked to a couple of my freinds who are in the same boat and they got the same response. I hope to hear somthing mon or tues as they want us sworn in by wens and starting work apr 1. Best of luck to you all.

Hey C-172 pilot and tequesta...I know exactly how you guys feel. I's still waiting to hear form them too and i'm starting to get a little worried. I do feel a little more confident to know that the other Victoria guy didn't get in which means that they will probably let us all know on the same day. Everyone i've heard from so far on Vancouver Island doesn't know yet so that's a pretty good sign. I can't tell you enough how stressed i'm beginning to get. What are your guys names and where are you from?
Good luck to everyone going to St. Jean

I just talked to a retired airforce pilot. He says that the selection board can be a fairly drawn out event which can take more than a week. I applied in July last year so I just want to know one way or the other. Its been a long process. Hope we all here something tomorrow
“They have me on leave without pay until …” And yet, you do not know the details of the hiring. So they’re not “making” you,,, oh well. So what were the terms? You obviously signed something. OK. What I was driving at is that if you had a job worth more than 8 dollars per hour could you tell them to pack up and piss off. And no… I am about to turn them down YOU KNOW!!!
See you in Sept

I haven't signed anything, they make an inital offer by phone. I didn't ask if I could modify their offer because I had no intention of doing so. Also from what I understand the pay is substantially more than $8/hr. I'm not sure if you're trying to flame me, call me a liar or stupid or who knows, but if you have some real questions feel free to ask.
