FLICA on Android

Post by ihavecontrol »

New at the company, just wondering if you can take full advantage of FLICA using an android device or am I wasting my time. I find viewing it in the browser to be a poor user experience. Do most people subscribe for the mobile version? Any tips? Thanks in advance!

The iPhone app really does nothing but download your schedule. I found you can do the same with this app called crew roster minder

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... nder&hl=en

There's some functions for free, but I pay $1 a month to subscribe to this app for some more features, one of which I believe is the ability to auto download your schedule from Flica and then add it to your personal calendar. It's not as clean as the actual Flica app, but it does download both the aviation and public weather for each leg.

As for paying for the mobile service from Flica. If you're going to be picking up and dropping quite a bit from your phone on the road, I would say try it out. Otherwise, don't bother.

You can PM me if you have any other questions.

I ended up writing my own app for android but roster minder downloads the schedules more like in a calendar and breaks each item as a single reminder. Simply downloading the .html version of your schedule or "Screen Shotting" it can leave you to missing flights (which is what mine does) as some pairings are the same number and do not appear twice on your schedule but do on your refrigerator version of your schedule. Anyways long story short pay the $7 bucks on app store for roster minder. Its worth it. I think it shows wxx and other things also but not sure I didn't buy it.

Thanks guys, I did try using Chrome to view it, but it's formatted very poorly. The menus and submenus on the left of the screen are compressed and difficult to read or select unless you zoom in a lot. I'm planning on trying roster minder even though I hate paying for apps, especially a reoccurring monthly fee.

I usually just export my sked from flica as a .vcs file. I then import it into my google calendar then sync, voila!

I don't change my sked too much so I have little need for updating my sked/calendar on a daily or weekly basis.

Good luck, and welcome to the family.

I'm not a Westjet person, but i've played with Google Calendar a fair bit... If "flica" makes your calendar available via some link that can be accessed through the 'net, you may be able to "subscribe" to the "flica" calendar using Google Calendar... Not sure what's possible there. If "flica" gives you an "ical" or "iCal" link, try giving that to Google Calendar. On the left side of your Google Calendar (calendar.google.com from your desktop) there should be an "Other Calendars" dropdown menu... Click on that, then "Add from URL" or something like that. Paste the iCal link.

Again, not sure if this has been tried and failed or not, but thought i'd throw it out there as a possibility.

Hey Guys,

I just found a new app for Flica on the play store. It's called Flight crew view. So far it looks pretty slick.

Currently using Hunite - cool app. Great schedule features, and also allow you to chat and share pictures with the crew your scheduled with, which I like very much.
They also have the friends & family functionality so they can also sign-up and check your schedule.

It supports already a lot of airliners AND it is completely FREE.

Add me as a friend when you signed up!
