O&N aux fuel tank
Looking to see if anyone has installed an o&n aux tank in a c150. I have the tank and not a lot of info on how it's installed. The main thing I need to know, is the right hand tank modified and do you need a check valve between the main tank and aux tank.
Any help would be great.

Re: O&N aux fuel tank
Have you tried contacting the company and asking for the installation instructions? http://www.onaircraft.com/products-serv ... l-tanks/#1
How can you tell which one is the pilot when you walk into a bar?....Don't worry he will come up and tell you.

I have tried email and they don't reply. I will give it another go if I don't hear from anyone on this forum (not really interested in paying for the stc).
Thanks

It is a certainty that the person who holds the STC also holds the instructions for installation, and thus the STC would be the most economical source of installation instructions. The STC, and the referenced instructions constitute the "approved" data, which is required for major modifications (and a fuel tank installation is major.(not really interested in paying for the stc).
CAR 571....
Even an O/M C 150 would not be exempt from this requirement.(a) All major modifications and major repairs shall be performed in accordance with either “approved” data or “specified” data.
Or.... If the original instructions and STC are simply not available, as sometimes happens, you can apply for a serialized STC for your specific installation. That's a $470 fee to TC, plus at least a thousand dollars for the approval work.
I know of a C 150 which was purchased by a Canadian, which had had an unapproved fuel system modification to accommodate a long range system installation, which was not installed at the time. In accordance with FAA regulation, an STC was neither required, nor issued for that - but it was not approved in Canada. When the fuel in one of the wing tanks could not be used in flight, and the aircraft force landed with the other tank empty, the insurance company found out about the unapproved mod, and walked away, and the lawyers began at each other. I assure you that doing a Canadian approved installation would have been very much less costly!
If you want to modify your aircraft, paying the cost for the proper approval is not only the legal way (to keep your C of A valid), but also the least costly, should you need to call your insurance company.
I hope that you are interested in paying for the services of the person who would issue the approved data (STC) which you require to be safe and legal. They are not interested in providing data for you at their cost and risk - who would be?
