You will be applying for a Class 4 flight instructor rating in Canada (thats where they start). Unless things have changed since I did it, the CARS say 30hrs of flight training and 25hrs of ground training. The CARS also say if you hold a flight instructor rating in another contracting state (ie your CFI) than you can credit it towards HALF of the requirements. So you will still need to do 15hrs of Flying and 12.5hrs of Breifings and than an exam with a TC examiner.

Now all this is of course assuming you already have your other Canadian Licenses. Are you a Canadian who went to school in the US or do you just have FAA licenses period?


Thank you for your respond. I use to live in US and have doen all my traning ATP and Bachelor degree in aviation. After Sept.11 move to Canada and now trying over here but I been to Canada for last three month (was back home for two years). Do you know wheather I have to convert my FAA ATPL first before I can able to apply for CFI class 4?
