Q400 performance figs

Post by ez4u2say »

It's been many years since I have had access to aircraft performance data and since this is a new model I have this question.
Have any of your got access to any software to tell me whether a Q400 at full pax can make it KGC/SYD (Australia) (681nm) off a 1400m runway at ISA +10, zero winds, elev 0, and if not, what length is required?..much appreciated..

1400M is similar to CYTZ (Toronto Island), also near sea-level, and the "7000kg" sounds about right. The last couple of times as a passenger it looked like it used around 2/3 of that runway (likely not full fuel though).

You're not planning to make a plane disappear to a small South Pacific tropical island somewhere are you?

I don't have the software, but yes. That would be, very roughly, a 2:20 hour flight or so, assuming no wind, in the Q400. 1400 meters is 500 feet more than the CYTZ, so you'd be able to do a max weight takeoff or close to it.

No problem.

your T/O weight might be restricted for climb seg. Runway might be long enough for full weight up but your segment might restrict a lesser weight to meet the segments. all depends on obstacle. so if the 1400 m is ok you still need to check runway environment on dep end. clear way etc.
I think for YTZ you have a a pretty good clearway off Rwy 26 so the numbers can work well for them.

No problem with climb segment or any other restrictions..only the ones as per the original post so a normal t/o chart can be utilized..thought there may be some Westjet or Porter drivers/dispatchers who have the data available..thanks again for the responses thus far...
