Independent FI or small school near Calgary?

Post by andyl »

Figure best to ask here..

The big schools around calgary - don't seem to have much time for me... Working north, home to the calgary area on a screwy schedule that changes on short notice... Was planning to do my ground school online; schedule doesn't so much allow me to book instruction a few weeks ahead - more like 1-2 days at best... (and I'm having this awful idea that I might split some flight instruction - grab a few hours up here if SNAFU's allow). Got hung up on a few times, told that won't work with their "program" - every reason that it doesn't work...

Wondering if there's any smaller schools around calgary - or independent instructors - who might be a touch more willing to work with me?

'Vintage' wings would be preferred, fell in love with a '39 J3 last time around (Stalled at 28-29 hours due to Cub going for a major overhaul - decided to wait instead of switching to a c150). Stick and rudder taildragger would be preferred - over the usual suspects...

If you want a freelance flight instructor you will need your own plane. I do know of a guy selling a 1/4 share of a C172 out of Springbank. The owners of the plane all bought in, got a FI and got their licenses. The The plane has been flown regularly. PM and I'll get you in touch with the guy.

Try Skywings in Okotoks. It only has C172s but their schedule seems pretty good and its at an uncontrolled airport.
