In reference to point 1 - if you do not have a "Sugar Momma", then next best thing is quite literally a Momma. Enjoy living in the basement for free.

You need a very high sodium based diet.

Best tips ever. My future looks bright. Thankfully it's cheaper to make Indian food than to purchase KD.

Whilst living in Australia after having all my money taken by the ex girlfriend and broke as hell, I survived $20 a week on a lentil only diet. Rice was extra, and a luxury.

On that note, for all the struggling fellow pilot brothers and sisters, if you're hhungry you can always grab a fresh and free meal at a local Sikh temple. Open doors and open arms. Anyone can walk in and eat. Just cover your head with a bandana and remove shoes.

Thankfully it's cheaper to make Indian food than to purchase KD.

Your steady diet of Indian food might impact your ability to make stay employed as a flight instructor though, since you might run out of students, and you don't want to have a bowel movement episode in a small plane. Hence the mild diet of KD for instructors, but only wealthy instructors can afford brand name KD, I would recomend that you purchase Co-OP brand, or no-name brand if you really want to stretch your budget.

Either way, if you choose to be a FI, You're going to need plenty of legal advice before this thing is over. As your attorney I must advise you that you'll need a very fast car with no top. And then a tape recorder, for special music, and some Acapulco shirts. And you'll have to arm yourself. To the Teeth.

Resources for a aspiring FI

Books you should have.

- Air Command Weather manual
- "An illustrated guide to Aerodynamics" by H.C. Smith, the best book on aerodynamics for non engineers
- "Fly the engine" by Kas Smith
- " The savvy flight instructor" by Greg Brown

You tube has a ton of good video clips. Make a little library of your own. The NASA stall and spin videos with tuffed airplanes are great. There are also lots of landing and takeoff videos which are great to show how not to do things and as examples of poor PDM.

Google "effective use of the blackboard(whiteboard) in teaching" . Using the whiteboard is one of the consistently weakest areas In my instructor students.

Know the VFR portion of the RAC in the AIM cold. I see far too much incompetence in the ATZ and in the circuit, often in airplanes with instructors onboard.

A PGI should take 10 to 15 minutes, if it is longer it is too long.

You're such a downer sometimes. It can't always be that serious, besides I mean it with the Acapulco shirts thing.

Actually, I used to bring in samosas at the flight school I trained at for my PPL. They werewell received by instructors and support staff. The bowel movements could pose a problem. Life should be full of spice, just like food. :p

A creative instructor would spice that KD up. Just sayin'..

Another good one is "The Proficient Pilot" by Barry Schiff from 1980.

- A hard copy of all the TC flight test guides.

As an instructor you have to know these documents inside and out. They should be well thumbed before you start your flight instructor training.

- A small kneeboard.

You will need this to jot down notes as the lesson progress. I emphasize small because you do not want it in the way and you do not want to waste time fussing with it when you get in the door. A small clipboard from Staples with a pen tied to a string works well, sits on your lap with no strap required, and with the money you save you can get the Acapulco shirt with the "Shiny Side Up special seal of approval"
