The ultimate warbird.

Post by boeingboy »

Some guy is selling an almost complete Sea harrier........and of all places - it's in Red Deer!

Looks like it's in really nice shape and could be made airworthy again if you wanted. With a spares fuse and an engine - Kind of a steel at $1.5 million.

I've always dreamed of having my own high-performance jet. Now if only I could come up with some serious $$$'s.

Hmm, I wonder what a 5000 hour inspection would turn up...

Forget about the operating costs and training required to be able to fly this airplane but are civilians even allowed to own military jets like this one?
Can you imagine some 500 hour wannabe with lots of Cessna 172 PIC time cranking this thing up and trying to fly it.
Where would a pilot get the required training?
Would make a nice centerpiece in someones man cave.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

You sure can buy a military jet. 44 MiG-21s registered in the US and there are a couple private MiG-29s as well.

Geez, I sure hope so :-)

I issue type ratings on L39's. Just got an L29. Am
looking around for a nice MiG-21.

The guys up in Gatineau operate a Canadair F-86,
sort of a Mk 5.5

In the USA, people privately fly T-33, F-86, F-100,
F-4, F-104 and MiG-15, -17, -21, -23, -29 and SU-27.
Off the top of my head.

I can easily teach a 500TT 172 pilot to fly an L39, but
that's just my opinion.
