Anyone using a Motorola Moto e phone?

Post by Pop n Fresh »

It sounds tough, it's cheap $179.62 unlocked with no contract  and is splash resistant.

Any good?
Decent android aviation apps?
Sure I should have put this in the computer forum way down at the bottom where no one looks. Move it?
Does it work with a blue tooth GPS puck?
Wut's ur fav color?

Might have to quit being so Scottish and cough up the $250ish for the moto g, sounds like a pretty good upgrade.

Looks like it's Android, so it should be able to run all the usual Android apps. Here are some ones you might want to try:

Air Navigation Pro
CheckList (BH Soft)
E6B+
Real Time GPS Tracker
Flight Timer Lite
UTC Time

I spent a lot of time checkout out all sorts of checklist apps, and the BH Soft one seems to work the best. Much quicker and better (less likely to forget or miss an item, or an entire checklist) than a paper checklist.

Yes the Moto series run Android.

More importantly they are available unlocked from the factory and the Moto e is cheap, Moto g is pretty inexpensive too. I admit the Apples are nice and iTunes just seems to work, but unlocked units are pretty pricey. Used ones are often more expensive than these.

They have built in GPS. Probably good enough for a guy that uses paper maps like me. Just a bonus to have a "helper."

couldn't find "E6B+", but there seems to be a few free ones claiming to be E6B apps
Real Time GPS Tracker
Flight Timer Lite
UTC Time

And the one I recently picked up and have been fiddling with and would rather strongly recommend;
FltPlan Go
Its obviously made for tablets, not phones, but having a backup CFS, every VNC and VTA, every low and hi chart in your pocket at all times has got its uses. Plus all the flight planning tools, scratch pad, nav log, etc.

Cheers.

I will back up the recommendation for FltPlan Go. It is an amazing application where you can obtain nearly all Canadian and American publications free of charge.

Here is E6B+:

I mostly use it for weight+balance and density altitude calculation.

Pulled the trigger on the Moto G unlocked from Staples. Just over $300 with a one year replacement plan. guy claimed it covers everything except breakage.

So far I'm impressed. Have not added any apps but will try a few of these thanks for the suggestions.
