The chances of getting into a cockpit these days on any aircraft is like trying to pull hen's teeth. Even if you are a company employee. You have to have a reason, according to most Company Operations Manual (COMs) to be sitting there.

With in our com there is a list of categories of people that are aloud to sit jump seat. Other than TC on official business. Only company employees are aloud, and captain has final say. The most common jump seater I have is FA's on positioning legs for the landing after their nap.

I didn't think anybody was allowed to be loud while in the jumpseat. Allowing of course, for the j/s passenger to speak aloud should he witness an un-allowed deviation from the norm where failing to speak aloud would be akin to allowing trouble to occur.

If one would alou me to comment on the matter. I'd love to have my daughter in jump, but I'd never alou her to speak aloud, even very quietly for that matter, below 10,000 feet. As she's only 10, and exactly like her mother, this may pose a serious problem.

Had the privilege twice, in my early 20's -- rather long time ago --- once VFR at night into YVR, in a BA 146, and once in a 767 Ifr into Toronto.

Was cool at the time, as I wasn't flying yet!
