Post by Baron »

Sunday, October 19th 1:00pm
At the Aviation Heritage Center, Thunder Bay Ontario
Our new location, 430 Waterloo St. South
Facing the DaVinci Centre parking lot

We will host a presentation on Superior Airways, a local company, founded by Orville Wieben, that made a major contribution to the development of commercial aviation in the region. Members of the Wieben family and former employees of Superior Airways will be present to talk and reminisce about a company that had a colourful forty year history during which it helped link the Lakehead with many communities in the north-west.

Check the website http://www.noahc.org for any updates.
There will be some social event either before or after the presentation
You are all retired by now ,tell your friends and try to make the event.

Baron,
Boy would I ever like to attend however cannot do so because of the timing and distances involved.
I flew for Superior from 1968 till 1972 out of Pays Platt , Port Arthur/Fort William, Nakina and a little out of Pickle Lake and Wiebenville. 180's, Beavers and Beech 18's. If there is anything I can add to the celebration, I would be pleased to provide whatever info you need or answer any questions you might have. I would appreciate it if you could say "Howdy" to any of the old timers attending that remember me. I hope when it is over you will post a recap of the event (with photos if possible) so those like myself who could not attend can see what it was like.
Thanks,
Bob Ostrom

Sounds like a great event. My dad flew DC-3s for them and had nothing but good things to say. He's not with us anymore but I fly with a couple guys who used to work for Orville and I'll be sure to pass the info on to them!
